| No years, but ... let's go. So, Pokémon canon starts when on this site is 9 years before current time. Meaning, 9 years ago, Ash Ketchum was 10 years old, and received his Pikachu from Professor Oak. Two years later, (7 years ago) he won the indigo league. Or, top 8? ( www.serebii.net , man. ftw.) Three years later, (4 years ago) he had earned all of the Johto badges and was in the top 8 of the, well Johto league. And he'd defeated the whole Orange Islands deal. Won the Orange Island thing.
